3 Reasons Why You Should Celebrate With Us
July 31, 2017 at 8:16 pm
For more than 30 years, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) has dedicated one week every year to celebrate the service health centers provide for our communities. National Health Center Week 2017 is coming up from August 13 to 19, and we can’t wait!
So without further ado, here are 3 reasons to celebrate your local health centers:
1. You receive quality healthcare without breaking the bank.
As a community health center, True Health provides access to quality healthcare at a price that is affordable for everyone. That means we make it possible for people without insurance, or without enough insurance, to see a doctor for preventive care. We make this work by charging patients on a sliding scale, according to their household size and family income – that way your healthcare expenses are never more than you can afford.
True Health also partners with programs like Vaccines for Children by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), which provides free immunizations for kids whose families can’t afford it.
By making a concerted effort to provide preventive care, we are improving community health, one patient at a time.
2. Patients show us how to run our centers.
True Health is a patient-centered medical home. What that means for you is that our patients are #1 in our operation – everything we do comes back to what is best for our patients. That’s why we take our patient satisfaction surveys very seriously and have teams dedicated to improving the patient experience.
Even more importantly, True Health is governed by a Board of Directors where 70% of the members are patient volunteers. This means that True Health patients have the final say on decisions about services and leadership of our health center.
Why? Because we believe that no one knows our centers better than our patients.

3. We are the affordable way to improve community health.
There have been numerous studies to see if health centers are cost-effective ways of improving community health. The short answer is: YES!
By providing access to preventive health screening, True Health and other health centers reduce hospital usage and save money that would be spent on expensive ER and hospital bills. Studies show that health center patients are less likely to be admitted to the hospital for inpatient stays, less likely to be readmitted within 30 days of release, and less likely to visit the ER.
This means that health centers are great for our patients’ budgets – and the taxpayer budget. According to the NACHC data, health centers save over $24 billion for the U.S. healthcare system every year.
