Domestic violence, also known as intimate partner violence, is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. This abuse can take many forms, including:

  • Physical Abuse: Hitting, slapping, shoving, or other physical harm
  • Emotional Abuse: Insults, threats, humiliation, or constant criticism
  • Sexual Abuse: Coercing or attempting to coerce any sexual contact without consent
  • Economic Abuse: Controlling finances, withholding money, or preventing a partner from working
  • Psychological Abuse: Intimidation, isolation, or manipulation

Domestic violence can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, race, or socioeconomic status. It often involves an imbalance of power where the abuser uses various tactics to control and dominate their partner. Common signs of an abusive relationship include:

  • Name-calling, insults, or put-downs
  • Preventing you from seeing family or friends
  • Controlling your finances or daily activities
  • Jealousy or possessiveness
  • Threats of violence or actual physical harm

Breaking the cycle- Leaving an abusive relationship can be challenging, but it’s crucial for your safety and well-being. Support networks, counseling, and legal assistance can help you navigate this difficult process.

Yuneisy’s Voice is a tribute to our cherished True Health team member, Yuneisy Labrada Rodriguez, whose life was tragically taken due to domestic violence. To honor her memory, continue her legacy of kindness and strength, and raise awareness to stop domestic violence, we are asking you to purchase this shirt and wear it in solidarity with Yuneisy’s family and the True Health team. Proceeds received will be passed from True Health to Yuneisy’s daughter as a scholarship to help her achieve her dreams of working in the healthcare field like her mom.
